Removal is heavily regulated for good reason. It requires containment, negative pressure, controlled work practices and licensed disposal, and it is not a job to hand to a general contractor.

How do I know if I have asbestos?
You do not, from looking. It has to be sampled and tested. If your property predates the late 1980s and you are planning work that will disturb material, get it surveyed before you start rather than after.
Do I have to move out?
For a contained, single-area job usually not, though we will restrict access to the work zone. For larger jobs it is often simpler and safer to be elsewhere for a few days. We will be straight with you about which yours is.
Is asbestos work covered by insurance?
Often not by a standard policy on its own, but it frequently is when it forms part of a wider covered loss such as fire or water damage. We will look at the claim with you.
