Blood & Body Fluid Cleanup

Blood is regulated waste. Cleaning it up is governed by federal standards, not household products, and getting it wrong exposes everyone who uses the space afterwards.

Bloodborne pathogens including hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV can remain infectious on a dry surface for days. Household bleach applied by an untrained person to a porous surface does not make that surface safe, it makes it look clean.

We treat every blood incident as Category 3 OPIM under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030, whether it came from an accident, a medical event, an assault or an industrial injury.

What the job includes

  • Assessment of every surface the fluid reached, including seams, grout and subfloor
  • Removal of porous material that cannot be reliably decontaminated
  • EPA registered hospital grade disinfection with correct dwell times
  • Sharps and contaminated waste removed under our medical waste licence
  • Verification testing before the space is handed back
  • Written documentation for employers, landlords and insurers

How we work

  • You call

A trained technician answers, not an answering service. We ask six questions, and if you only know two of them that is enough for us to start moving.

  • We arrive

Unmarked vehicles and plain clothing on approach. Containment goes up before anything is touched.

  • We remediate

Source removal first, then structural cleaning, hospital grade disinfection and odour treatment, then verification testing.

  • We hand it back

A certificate of decontamination, a waste manifest where applicable, and a space you can use again.

Most families pay nothing. We open the claim with your carrier, submit the documentation and argue it where it needs arguing. If you are not covered, you get a written price before we start.

Common questions

Blood Cleanup: what people ask us

It is only a small amount. Do I really need a company?

For a small spill on a hard, non-porous surface, a trained person with the right PPE and disinfectant can handle it. Call us and we will tell you honestly if that is your situation. Where it has soaked into carpet, upholstery, grout or flooring, it needs removing rather than wiping.

We are a business and need to reopen. How fast?

Most commercial blood incidents are a same day job, and we work outside trading hours where that helps. You get written documentation showing the space was decontaminated and verified, which is what your insurer and your staff will ask for.

Do you handle needles and sharps?

Yes. We are a licensed medical waste hauler, so sharps, dressings and contaminated material leave with us and are manifested. You get a copy of the manifest.

If something has happened, stop reading and call.
