Can you just spray it?
No, and anyone offering that is selling you a repaint. Biocide on the surface of a colonised porous material does not remove the colony, and the growth returns as soon as the moisture does.
Do I need testing first?
If you can see it and you know where the water came from, testing before work often adds cost without changing the plan. Testing afterwards is the valuable one, because it proves the job worked. We will advise honestly for your situation.
Is mould covered by insurance?
It depends entirely on the cause. Mould resulting from a sudden covered event like a burst pipe is often covered; mould from long term maintenance issues usually is not. Documentation of the source is what decides it.
